Runaway Park Umina

Concept Design to complete a park renovation as part of a combined Community Group/Council initiative. This project was driven by the desire to upgrade a neglected and uninviting parkland space due to limited funding for upgrades and maintenance.

Umina Community Group invited SDC to redesign the park to include upgraded play, native plant revegetation, shade trees, public art, heritage interpretation of a WW2 runway and cycling facilities.
The funding and construction collaboration between the Central Coast Council and the Community Group.

The project has been an overwhelming success for open space revitalisation. The parkland usage has increased exponentially, with an essential historical story of the place told through play.
