One Circular Quay
The design was executed in a partnership with Junglefy and McGregor Coxall to realise the concept by Crone and KKKA. A twisting series of living walls and cascading terraces respond to the pixelation and breaking down of the scale of the building as it reaches the human scale, the public domain. Combining local sandstone, cascading green walls and large windows with Harbour views, the planting design responds to the scale of the interaction with people.
This project initiated a design and landscape planning methodology to incorporate risk feasibility and ensure plants thrive in a challenging environment. Many of the best practices for planning and maintaining urban green towers resulted from this project, as nothing of this scale had been completed before in Australia. This project has heavily influenced how large scale living architecture is designed and planned in collaboration with Junglefy.
