Kogarah North Master Plan
The Kogarah North Public Domain Plan positively responds to a shift from low density residential to higher density apartment buildings. The change in the local character and increase in population will see the area transform, providing an array of opportunities to the current and future population.
Public and communal spaces will play a far more significant role as places for entertaining and socialising. This precinct was challenged with no pre-existing public-owned traditional open space and created a network of streets, linear parks, parklets and laneways to form the public domain.
Climate adaptation and the 'Living Streets' principle required these spaces to support a blue-green infrastructure strategy to support new street trees and respond to flooding. An updated lighting strategy would ensure these spaces are safe and have lighting as a feature.
The PDP created guidelines for paving, furniture, street tree planting and urban greening opportunities to guide the incremental development of this urban precinct.
