Beresford Road - Vaucluse

This spectacular and award-winning design merges a 1914 Queen Anne Style house with a landscape and architecture response to the sandstone slope it rests upon. Sandstone was quarried and seemingly shaped to dimension stone to create a series of terraces and turrets that created additional living and recreation space below the original house.

The landscape follows these terraces flowing down and over a new poolside cabana. Pockets of gardens find niches between buildings and sandstone to contribute to the greening of these spaces. A rooftop garden includes a vegetable garden and a small banana plantation. This project was a classic example of close integration of landscape and architecture working seamlessly.
